Stress relief, Superlearning, more focused concentration, creativity, Superlearning, changework easy, instant Samadhi. These are goals that can be achieved by using a light and sound machine. Sometimes referred to as a cerebral machine or audio and visual stimulation (AVS), these devices allow the user to reach states of being in a controlled manner.

Neuroscientists have studied the brain from the 1800s to seek methods to help people with brain injuries and learning dysfunctions. Recent discoveries have come to the general population. If anything can help a person with a disability learning or brain damage, what could make a "normal" person?

The brain has 100 billion neurons generation and transmission of electrical signals. These signals can be detected by machines devices called EEG (electroencephalogram) One of the great discoveries was the correlation of brain waves of welfare states. The stress, alertness, relaxation, mediation, and sleep has been shown to coincide with particular wave patterns. Neurologists have given these names brainwave patterns taken from the Greek alphabet. Typical warning behavior records 30 or more hertz (cycles per second). Alpha State is a condition that is easily achieved by closing the eyes and relax. 7-13Hz range is the Alpha status. Sleep is the lowest frequency of 0.5 to 3hrz.

The hardest to achieve and maintain the intermediate state of the Theta (3-7hz). It's been found in the brains of the masters of meditation. Many students of meditation practice for years to reach Theta state reliably and consistent. Or the mind goes into a train of thought or you fall asleep. What if there is a way to quickly and easily learn to meditate?

In the late 50's a radio station named Robert Monroe was experimenting with ring tones for Super-learning. He discovered that the frequencies some sound effects created in the brain. When two different frequencies are played in both ears, the brain resonate vibration which is the difference between the two tones. If a tone is played in the left ear at 110 Hz and 100 played in the right ear, brain waves resonate at 10Hz, which is the same as alpha. The same effect is activated by flashing or flickering light. That is why looking at the camp is so relaxing. The problem is that flames flicker in the alpha rate. He coined the term after the response frequency (FRF).

Light and Sound Machines are devices that bring the experience of the laboratory in his house for a fraction of the cost. Usually consist of a controller, stereo headphones and lightglasses. The controller is a computer that creates the light and sound sessions. There is a user interface for selecting time, and the combination of the desired frequencies or brain states. They can be selected manually or a pre-scheduled meeting can be collected. Headphones provide sound with high quality comfort. The lightglasses are like opaque sunglasses with two or more LED lights located on the eyelids.

My personal experience with brain machines began in the late eighties. Discover the Megabrain book by Michael Hutchinson. He described various technologies to access and improve brain states as brain machines, flotation tanks, nutrition, and electro-stimulation.

I bought a basic AVS unit of a notice of direct mail and started using it regularly. Experienced sublime experiences a spike in use with meditation tapes.

The system I'm using now called Nova Pro by Photosonix. I have used for about ten years. It's a real workhorse and create pleasant experiences for me. The only problem I had is with headphones. That had to be replaced after the phone cord is involved in a vacuum. Totally my fault, but quite easy to go to any store and pick up a new set of headphones.

So where do you get a Light and Sound Machine? There are a number of manufacturers and distributors for them. I found that there is a saving Cost to go directly to the manufacture, if possible. Why I took the unit Photosonix. I have a great price. I am still using after all this time.

Ebay is a good source of a great bargain for an L & S machine. Some are sold brand new, others are used with considerable savings.
